Tzatziki Sauce (Simple Homemade)

Tzatziki Sauce (Simple Homemade)

PREPARATION: 15 minutes
REST: 1 hour (grated cucumber) and 1 hour (mixed yogourt)
TOTAL: 2 hour 15 minutes (or more, depending on the rest times)
PORTION(S): 10 x 75-ml portions / containers
CAN BE FROZEN (see Notes below)

INGREDIENTS

PREPARATION

  1. In a bowl, grate the cucumber. Drain well by letting it rest for 1 hour or more in the refrigerator in a mesh sieve or fine strainer.
  2. Add the garlic and the yogourt. Mix well. Let rest in the refrigerator for 1 additional hour or more to infuse the garlic taste.
  3. Add the salt, pepper and dill. Mix well. Taste and adjust if needed.
  4. Serve chilled on or with your favorite food, or freeze for later use (see Notes below).
NOTES:
Tzatziki sauce can be frozen in tight-scealed plastic containers. Allways thaw it in the fridge and stir it well before serving.
Tzatziki sauce goes perfectly with meats (especially grilled), grilled fish, burgers and sandwiches, pita wraps, potatoes (mashed and baked), and falafel and saussages. It can also be used as a salad and vegetable dressing or as a dip for chips and crackers. In short, your imagination is the only limit.
Tzatziki sauce can help reduce appetite, regulate hunger hormones and increase metabolism.
